How Grandeur started

Grandeur Gardening grew out of a simple frustration with how most gardens get treated: mown, blown and left, by a different crew every time, with nobody actually watching whether the garden was getting better or worse. The business was founded to do the opposite, and after 15 years working Upper North Shore gardens, that is still the whole idea.

Today we look after gardens across Wahroonga, St Ives, Pymble, Turramurra and the surrounding suburbs, from compact courtyards to estate gardens that take a full day each week. Some clients have been with us for over a decade.

Our horticultural philosophy

Gardens are living systems, and the North Shore's gardens are old enough to punish shortcuts. Our approach rests on three habits:

• Diagnose before you cut. A yellowing hedge is a symptom. The cause is in the soil, the roots, the light or the pests, and treating the cause is what saves plants.
• Work with the season, not the schedule. Pruning, feeding and planting each have a right moment. A good garden service arranges its visits around those moments.
• Leave it better every visit. Presentation matters, but so does trajectory. Every garden we maintain should be healthier this year than last year.
